REGION JAZZ AUDITIONS

TMEA REGION 19 ALL REGION JAZZ ENSEMBLE AUDITION INFORMATION

 Entry deadline:  Entries must be done online. All directors entering students must be  current active members of TMEA.

The deadline for online registration is Thursday, September 30th, 2009 .  For online entries:

  1. Log on to www.tmea.org
  2. Go to the drop down menu for “divisions – band – auditions entry process.”
  3. Print the instructions
  4. Click on “login as director” and follow the instructions

IF YOU ENTERED STUDENTS PLEASE MAKE PLANS FOR YOU AND YOUR STAFF TO JUDGE THIS AUDITION. TMEA REQUIRES THAT THE AUDITONS USE FIVE JUDGES ON EACH PANEL. WE NEED EVERYONE’S HELP TO ACCOMPLISH THIS TASK!

Audition packets are available from your music dealer of choice. For each student, complete the “TMEA APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP REGION/ALL-STATE JAZZ ENSEMBLE.” Leave the information on the bottom line of the entry form blank. That is audition code information that will be completed by the region jazz audition chair. Bring the written application forms, along with payment for the Region Jazz audition to the region jazz chair before auditions on Monday October 5th, 2009. Region 19 has set audition fees at $15.00 per student. Please have only one check per school. Make check payable to REGION 19 BANDS.

The audition will be held on Monday evening, October 5th, 2009 , at MacArthur High School , 4400 Aldine-Mail Route , Houston , 77039. You may drop off students and the equipment on the bus ramp side of the school (west side of the campus) and park in the parking lot. PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON THE BUS RAMP. MACARTHUR HIGH SCHOOL HAS ACTIVITY BUSES THAT WILL NEED TO PICK UP STUDENTS AFTER SCHOOL.

October 5th, 2009 :

4:00 PM                        Saxes, trumpets, and trombones report to the cafeteria to sign in and warm up.  Piano guitar and bass report to the choir room to sign in and warm up. Drum set report to the band hall to sign in and warm up

4:30 PM                         Judges Meeting – Teacher lounge

5:00 PM                        Auditions begin

Rhythm Section:         Guitar and bass players must bring their own amp and all extension cords and cables needed for their performance. Three pianos will be available for warm-up.

State Recording:         Students taping for All-State must pay a $10.00 cash State audition fee that is sent to the state with the student’s audition form and CD.
